The nasal bone is the small bone part at the nose between the eyes. This bone is too big or deformed in some people. Cosmetic nose operations include a wide range of procedures, but we have realized that a significant number of our patients had problems related to the nasal bone, not the nose itself.

Crooked Nasal Bone

There are several methods that can be utilized to correct a crooked nasal bone. One of these methods is to file down the bone to reduce its size. This reduction can cause a significant change in the overall structure of the nose.

Nasal Bone Removal

It is not medically possible to remove the nasal bone. However, it is possible to shape it by filing. This shaping process also depends on the structure of the face. If the bone is reduced too much, the nose may start to look odd on the patient’s face and yield undesirable results.

What happens if your nose bone is not straight?

If the nasal bone is not straight, a condition commonly known as a deviated septum, several issues can arise:

  1. Breathing Difficulties: One of the most common problems is difficulty breathing through the nose. This can be particularly noticeable during physical activity or when lying down.
  2. Nasal Congestion: The deviation can cause one side of the nose to be more congested than the other. This might vary from day to day or season to season.
  3. Frequent Sinus Infections: An uneven nasal passage can lead to poor drainage of the sinuses, increasing the risk of sinus infections.
  4. Nosebleeds: Increased dryness in one part of the nasal passage can lead to more frequent nosebleeds.
  5. Sleep Problems: The breathing difficulties associated with a deviated septum can disrupt sleep, potentially leading to conditions like snoring or sleep apnea.
  6. Facial Pain or Headaches: Some people experience pain or headaches due to the pressure caused by the uneven airflow in the nasal passages.
  7. Postnasal Drip: This can cause a person to frequently clear their throat, which can be annoying and uncomfortable.

It’s important to note that a slightly deviated septum is common and might not cause any noticeable symptoms. However, if the deviation is significant and leads to the issues mentioned above, medical intervention, such as surgery (septoplasty), may be recommended to correct the problem and alleviate symptoms.

How Is Nasal Bone Surgery Performed?

Nasal bone surgery should be performed in a full-fledged hospital environment. We require the hospitals that we operate in to have an emergency department and an active intensive care unit in the unlikely case that our patient requires emergency intervention. The operation is performed under general anesthesia.

It will take approximately 1.5-3 hours depending on the structure of the nose. The patient will immediately require cold compression after the procedure. They will also be provided with painkillers for a more comfortable recovery process. Crooked Nasal Bone

How Long Does Recovery Take After Nasal Bone Surgery?

The recovery will take about a month. Depending on the patient’s health status, it is possible that the recovery will be longer.

This procedure will cause some bruising and swelling on the nose and under the eyes. Cold compression will help accelerate the healing process, which will take about 1 week.

Reconstructing a Nose According to the Size of the Face

A nose will always look more natural if it conforms to the shape and size of the face. A very elegant nose might look unnatural if the nasal bone is too small. Proportions are a crucial factor in cosmetic surgery.

Nasal Bone Surgery Prices

The nasal bone size is different for every person. It is sometimes possible to non-surgically treat a patient through only filler injections. Unfortunately, it is not possible to provide an average price estimate prior to examining the patient.

If you would like to inquire about the prices of such an operation, please send us the pictures of your nose for us to be able to provide you with an accurate price estimate or come in to our clinic for a free consultation.

Nonsurgical Methods of Correcting a Crooked Nasal Bone

It is possible to use filler injections to correct the nasal bone. This option will not be viable for every patient, yet it is possible to address cosmetic concerns through filler injections to the nose. These injections are effective only temporarily and will eventually be dissolved by the body after an average of 3-4 years. After this period, the patient can opt to repeat filler injections or not.
